Original Digital Art

During my time at ACCB, I illustrated and designed a series of didactic enclosure signage displays. Each of our public enclosures received a new display, allowing visitors to learn more about the species. Below is a selection of some of my original digital art used in the designs.

Signage & Interpretive Design For Nature

Below is a selection of infographics, didactic signage and interactive activity stations I designed myself, as well as with a team of supporting staff and volunteers for The Nature Discovery Center in Cambodia. Also included are samples of other projects for various clients and companies throughout the last decade.

Digital Learning & Interactive Kiosk Displays

This interactive timeline explores human ancestry and origins. Students delve into 7 million years of hominin evolution, and can click into various fossils to learn more about our most ancient ancestors.

An interactive lesson and lemur field guide completed in partnership with Stony Brook University and Centre Val Bio. The lemur guide includes interactive lessons, videos, photo galleries and even vocalizations.

An interactive guide to the lemurs of Northeast Madagascar, completed in partnership with Duke University Lemur Center. The guide includes lessons, trivia and 16 fully interactive species factsheets.

This interactive explorer app provides a plethora of data, visualizations, lessons and even videos on all manner of climate change science topics. Students end by completing a quiz that tests their knowledge.

Deployed alongside a selection of biofacts at The Nature Discovery Center of Cambodia, this interactive kiosk activity allows students to learn more about the samples, and even complete real-world challenges.

A comprehensive guide to Cambodia’s wildlife and natural ecosystems. The guide included 3 activities: a wildlife photo gallery, field notes and illustrations of the most endangered species and an ecosystem map.

A simple app that allows visitors at The Nature Discovery Center of Cambodia to understand the IUCN species classification system. Accompanying audio narration is available in multiple languages.

An interactive timeline of all of life on Earth. This guide gives students a glimpse into the vast diversity of life across an enormous swath of time. Our own species only appears on the very last page.

Interior Design & Concept Modeling

Dream Nature Discovery Center

In 2015 I designed a proposal for Cambodia’s first Nature Discovery Center. This sprawling facility housed classroom, office space, a wildlife studio, film cinema, and a large interpretive visitor center. Though never brought to life, the plans were well-developed.

Centre ValBio Educational Pavilion Design Concept

Working in partnership with Stony Brook University and Centre ValBio, I designed a very simple concept model of a new, outdoor educational pavilion. This interactive learning facility will be developed near the entrance of Ranamofana National Park, Madagascar. The site includes interpretive signage, hands-on activities and biofacts, interactive media and touchscreen kiosk displays and a tree planting station.

I have used simple modeling like this to lay out whole nature centers, informing visitor flow, design space and activity locations. Designing these sorts of simple visualization tools are of great value during the initial design and development phase of new learning spaces. Doing this design and planning work all in-house keeps costs down for smaller conservation organizations on a budget.

Pilot Nature Discovery Center of Cambodia

In 2018 I designed and opened Cambodia’s first Nature Discovery Center. After finding a suitable space, I designed a rough concept floorplan and activity layout. Over the next 6 months myself and a very small team of just a few volunteers brought the center to life. The center opened in 2019, and saw thousands of visitors each year during our pilot phase from early 2019 to late 2020. The facility included both indoor and outdoor learning spaces, and a wide selection of interactive activities, didactic signage, digital media and hands-on materials.

Ammo Jewelry Gallery

In 2019 I assisted with the basic architectural planning, 3D modeling and visualization and basic interior design for a local artisans office and gallery. This space served both as a classroom for training courses in recycling methods for jewelry, and also as a gallery for customers.

Grasshopper Adventures Offices

From 2015 - 2016 I worked part time with an eco-tourism focused bike company. While my primary jobs were related to graphic design, web-design and promotional film-making, I also assisted with the interior design and planning for a rebranding effort. This included an overhaul of multiple Grasshopper Adventures shops and offices across SE Asia.
